Evaluation is an important part of the project cycle and vital if the full value of learning from a project is to be gained.
The approach to evaluation used is to maximise the real learning from a project, both for those involved in its development and management but also for those implementing and for policy makers and anyone who can learn from the experience.
In the field of evaluation, recent work includes the evaluation of the Sida funded Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme. I also led the team which reviewed the experience and impact of a major capacity building programme run by UN-HABITAT which included India and Vietnam. For UNDP, evaluation of an upgrading programme in Ismailia, Egypt. Earlier I monitored the work of consultants working on the Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility in Cambodia and was also part of the evaluation team for the UK Government’s Knowledge and Research programme, responsible for the urban sector. For Soros foundation I evaluated the work of the NGO FDPL in capacity development for local government in Eastern Europe.
